Choice UI
Leaning into Hick's Law, Choice UI is a versatile interface for effortless decision making, designed to be LLM native.
Fix Food
A real life cooking co-op RPG that makes every recipe into an exciting Quest.Built to be LLM native, designed to make every day cooking effortless and engaging, while being a step towards something greater.
My consulting projects
From global brands to the Finnish Police Force, I've guided a variety of stakeholders through the entire design process, from initial concepts to renewing their existing systems.
Innovating at OP Lab
At OP's R&D unit, I was involved in researching, validating and designing multiple innovative products and services.
Side projects
On my free time I do things like leapfrogging board game design with AI, concepting mobile games, innovating in the kitchen, designing dating apps without dark patterns and stencil spray art.

tinder-like UI for LLM's
"Hick–Hyman Law describes the time it takes for a person to make a decision as a result of the possible choices: increasing the number of choices will increase the decision time logarithmically.
Choice UI gives the user two good choices, optimizing the time to a decision made."Choice UI is an intuitive problem-solving interface designed to harness the full potential of large language models. With a Tinder-like design, it empowers users to access the capabilities of LLMs effortlessly, eliminating the need for extensive chat interactions or prompt engineering skills.
every recipe an adventure to be had, together
In the summer of 2023, I was tasked with discovering a product vision aligning with a set of high-level requirements.
The requirements:
1. Daily UX that always remains the same
2. Engaging meta-layer
3. TAM in the billions
4. Primary customers would be families
The vision that raised 1M€ in funding
an LLM native cooking app, where you and your family members are hero characters that go on Quests together, learning new skills in- and outside of the kitchen. All while cooking delicious food that everyone in the group wants to eat.(Think Duolingo for home cooking, but group based and deeply personalized.)
Keywords: gamification, consumer app, combining utility and entertainment, LLM native product design
Quest UI
The interface, that makes cooking any recipe so effortless and easy that all you have to do is show up.A true "quickplay" interface for cooking.Users are able to walk in and start following instructions that lead to a successful cooking session without any prior knowledge of the dish they're preparing. All while users report it feeling like "completing a dungeon in a videogame" and "driving with Google Maps on".
Choice UI
What if you could solve problems by making choices from a deeply personalized set of top-ranked, high quality solutions to your problem? This is exactly how ChoiceUI solves the age old question; "What should we have for dinner?"
Complexity, simplified into a game
Planning meals, cooking food and becoming better at cooking is pretty overwhelming. Especially in a group of users who all have different wants and needs.I condensed this complexity into a game like UI.
What users had to say about it:
"This app has an effect, which makes cooking feel like you're on autopilot. Like driving a car with a navigator on.""I notice I approach this from a completely different angle than 'normal' cooking. It's much more like an adventure, it's meditative.""50 minutes flew by. Felt like max 25 minutes.""I've never thrown spaghetti to the wall before and the framing of the question was really nice. Felt like a game. It was a really 'instagrammable' moment.""I'd rather do this than watch a movie."
my years as a design mercenary
I worked as a product design consultant for two and a half years.During my consultant years, I had the opportunity to work for a diverse set of customers, ranging from public sector customers to the private sector and non-profits. I found working with a vast selection of different stakeholders extremely valuable. Immersing myself in different projects, customer problems and stages of product development proved itself to be very valuable experience.
In addition to customer work, I also had the pleasure of sharing my knowledge about emerging technology (like gen AI) or introducing new tools and methodologies to my colleagues.I designed both B2C & B2B solutions, as well as internal systems that played an important part in the client's business.
some memorable projects:
Finnish Police Force
If you’ve gotten a ticket from a speeding camera in Finland, I kind of made it more efficient and user friendly for them to give it to you. Sorry.
Finnish medical Association
I designed the Lääkäri.fi mobile app. Not to brag too much, but it’s still, at the time of writing, number #65 on Finnish iOS app store’s “medical” category.
Fiskars myGarden
From idea to an active pilot, I designed and lead the development of a gamified mobile app for Fiskars. It made anyone a gardener with personalized and context aware daily tasks. Me and a developer did this in two months.Key lessons learned:
1. It doesn't take much more than visualizing user progress to increase retention (DAU)
2. You can fake a lot of functionality with a system where you can target a specific group of users with custom content.
3. Enabling community features increases retention, especially in "hobbyist" context
FINAP, a taxi pricing data tool
Fintraffic had a problem. Taxi drivers were obligated by law to share their pricing info with Fintraffic, but there’s no consequences for not doing it. So no one did it. I designed a solution that made them want to do it.Key lessons learned:
1. If there is a need to drive user behavior into a specific direction, a carrot might be more effective than a stick
2. If there is data, there is value to be captured
3. In B2B contexts, win-win situations are often there, it just needs a bit of clever product design
innovating for the financial sector
I pitched an idea to OP Lab in 2016 (was called Kiihdyttämö back then) and got hired as an intern. This was my first “real” job in the industry. Before internship ended, I got hired full time 🎉I worked in a role that is best described as an internal founder, a role combining PO & Product Designer.During my time at OP Lab, I worked on multiple projects and was part of the Discovery Team, responsible of prototyping and validating new business opportunities.
some memorable projects:
Kassabotti
An add-on product to a cloud based POS called "Pivo Kassa".It enabled the merchant to start selling their inventory through their Facebook business page through Facebook messenger. The merchant could choose what they would like to sell and edit the tone of voice of the bot. This all happened with the press of a button.
Alexa Kotipizza Game
I designed and led the development of a voice activated pizza ordering game for Amazon’s Alexa. It utilized the payment app Pivo. I got to hire a voice actor and design the whole thing to be an interactive game show, where the user uses their voice to participate. With an actual pizza order in the end, of course. We made it to Grand one finals with this one.I take the credit for selling the first pizza in Europe through voice UI.STT Info article

Cashless Festival Payment Bracelet
Blockfest 2017 was a first in Finland. I onboarded tens of thousands of festival visitors to a new payment method for multiple music festivals over a few summers and helped design the physical spaces to accommodate for the new payment method. An article written about it
OP 50/50
I discovered an immense opportunity in the housing market. An unsatisfied need in the market, causing life defining pain in the end-customers.I researched, validated, designed and led the development of a new type of mortgage solution and the product to scale the business.
stuff like this happens when I get inspired
Gorilla Warfare
I designed, built, play tested and self-published a board game in 2022.I leapfrogged the development in a lot of places by utilizing AI tools.Buy it here
Heila
A hygienic dating app, without the dark patterns or general.. grimeyness of the dating app market. Real dates with a unique business model that isn't counter intuitive to the user's goals.Check out the 75 second pitch below.
Spray stencil art
I love to paint with spray paint and the way it looks when applied through a stencil. The street art aesthetic in general is something I have a huge soft spot for.
Da Label
A record label management game, where you play the role of a label manager. In Da Label, you manage AI generated artists that create actual music.Just make sure they deliver their end of the deal. Sometimes, that might be easier said than done..
